Perhaps Ireland's oldest town, Dun Laoghaire is a port situated just 7 miles south of Dublin city , easily accessible by DART and buses .

The town is named after its founder, the High King of Ireland in the Fifth century - King Laoghaire - who used the area as his sea-fort (Dun) for raiding into Britain and France. This was the King who allowed Saint Patrick travel the land preaching the Christian message.

With festivals virtually every week from the June to September and many in the autumn and winter months, the port-town is now serving as the leisure town adjacent to Dublin city and popular amongst tourists.
